Absentee Voting Qualifications
Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S citizen who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day and who has resided in the City of River Falls for at least 10 days before the election. The elector must be registered with the City of River Falls to receive an absentee ballot and provide an acceptable form of Photo ID.
Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, reside overseas, are hospitalized, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact the City Clerk’s Office at 715-426-3408. Please refer to the WI Elections and Ethics Commission website for additional information on military and overseas absentee voters.
Obtaining an Absentee Ballot
To obtain an absentee ballot, you must make a request in writing.
Absentee Requests by Mail/Fax/Email
Request a ballot by using the Application for Absentee Ballot. Complete the form, provide a copy of an acceptable form of photo ID, and mail it to:

The application must be received in the City Clerk’s Office no later than 5 p.m. on the Thursday before the election in order for an absentee ballot to be mailed to you.
Absentee Voting in the Clerk'S Office
Absentee voting hours in the Clerk's Office is set by the City Clerk and published in the River Falls Journal and on the City of River Falls' website. It is also posted at City Hall and at the River Falls Public Library. No ballots may be taken from the City Clerk's Office.
Deadline for Returning Absentee Ballots
Ballots that have been mailed to voters include a postage paid return envelope. Ballots must be returned to the City Clerk’s Office by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Any ballots received after 8 p.m. on Election Day will not be counted.
