Help Plan the Future of Cascade Avenue

The City of River Falls, in conjunction with the University of Wisconsin-River Falls (UWRF) and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT), is developing a Concept Plan for Cascade Avenue from Spruce Street to Wasson Lane. Two public meetings have already been held. Public input into the process and public comments on problems and potential solutions took place at Meeting #1 in the spring. A second meeting, in September, 2007, discussed the pros and cons of several concepts.

A public meeting to discuss the preferred concept developed by the Technical Committee based on the previous public input will be held on Monday, November 26, 2007 in the St Croix Room (room number 321) of the University Center on the UWRF Campus. The public meeting will consist of three parts:

6:00 to 6:30 PM: Open House with Technical Committee Members.

6:30 to 7:30 PM: Presentation with General Questions and Answers.

7:30 to 8:30 PM: Individual Discussions with Technical Committee Members.

Those attending the meeting will have an opportunity to comment on the preferred concept. Background information developed during the process, including lists of problems and concerns, potential solutions, goals and objectives, and concept evaluations, will be available at the meeting.

The presentation at 6:30 PM will briefly discuss the process and provide some detail of the preferred concept. Public comments will be taken at the open house, and at individual discussions, as time permits, after the presentation. Comment Cards will be available.

The preferred concept will be refined or modified as needed, based on the comments received at the meeting. A final concept will be presented to the City and the UWRF at the completion of the study which is anticipated by about the end of the year.

This is an opportunity for individuals or groups who utilize the Cascade Ave corridor to participate in the development of a final concept for improvements to the corridor. Background information is available on the Internet by following the Cascade Avenue links on either the City’s homepage (www.rfcity.org or University’s homepage (www.uwrf.edu).
