2004 Project Plan Monitoring Components
To understand these are potential impacts to the river,
the project is broken down into five (5) identified tasks:
-
Temperature Monitoring of the Kinnickinnic and outfall points.
- Identify locations for the temperature
monitors with input from the city, the Wisconsin DNR, Trout
Unlimited and other identified stakeholders.
- Identify and document, if possible, the
effects from these outfalls during storm events and base flow
conditions
- Compile and document the data on a regular
basis and for an annual report. The information will be
available in written form, .pdf and/or html for inclusion on the
city’s website.
- Water Quality Monitoring
- Identify locations and detail placement of
the samplers with inputs from the city, the Wisconsin DNR, Trout
Unlimited and other identified stakeholders
- Identify and document, if possible, the
effects from these outfalls during storm events and base flow
conditions
- Compile, analyze and document the data on
a regular basis and for an annual report. The information will
be available in written form, .pdf and/or html for inclusion on
the City’s website.
- City staff will collect samples and
forward the samples to an agreed certified laboratory. The
laboratory will the data from the analyses for: TSS, TP, TKN Cu,
Pb, As and Zn.
- Base Flow Surveys
- Identify locations for obtaining base flow
measurements
- Document proper protocols
- Compile, analyze and summarize data for
the annual report.
- Macroinvertebrates
- Working closely with Clarke Garry of the
University of Wisconsin at River Falls, compile, analyze and
summarize data for the annual reports. ..
- The macroinvertebrates study and
information will be used as an indicator of overall river
health.
-
Fish and Habitat Studies
Fish and river habitat studies are currently not included in the
scope of the project. However, the project staff will work
closely with the Wisconsin DNR Area Fisheries Manager, UWRF staff
and students and SEH staff to encourage and leverage such research
in the study area.
