Voter Registration

You must be registered before you can vote.  Anyone who is at least 18 years of age, is a U.S. citizen, has lived at their current address for twenty eight (28) days and has not lost the right to vote can register and vote.  You may register in the Clerk's Office, by mail or on Election Day.  Specific deadlines apply - please check with the City Clerk's Office.

Absentee Voting

State Statutes allow anyone who is unwilling or unable to go to the polls on Election Day to vote by absentee ballot. Voters no longer need to give a reason when requesting an absentee ballot. You can cast an absentee ballot in person or by mail.

Absentee Voting in the City Clerk's Office

Absentee ballots can be cast prior to election day as follows:

When: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday - the last two full weeks prior to election day, absentee voting is not available on the Monday prior to an election. 
 
If you wish to cast an absentee ballot by mail, send your Application For Absentee Ballot to:
City of River Falls, 222 Lewis Street, River Falls, WI 54022. Applications must be received by the Thursday before Election Day.

Election Inspectors

The City of River Falls is always looking for citizens to work at the polls during elections. Election Inspectors (poll workers) register new voters, answer questions, hand out and explain ballots, and work with ballot counting equipment. The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Election Inspectors are paid $7.50 hour. Election Inspectors were recently appointed for the term of 2012-2013 by City Council in December 2011.
