NEW BUSINESS
2. Mleziva and Planning Director Buddy Lucero discussed prior to the meeting the possibility for the Commission to meet with other historic preservation groups for the purpose of learning more about what other preservation groups are doing. Alton stated that the preservation group in Prescott is very active. They raised $130,000.00 for a clock tower. Peterson indicated that the Mississippi River Bluffs is also a very active preservation group. This will be put on the agenda for next months meeting.
OLD BUSINESS
3. Discussion of Historic Preservation Month Activities (May 2007)
Vintage Film Showing at Falls Theatre The Falls Theater owner has not yet contacted Alton. Alton will continue to follow-up with the owner. Woolsey also volunteered to talk with the theater owner. Mleziva will arrange the advertising for the event when Alton has information to be published.
Building Abstract Summaries Most is working on getting the abstract for the Benco building.
Special Recognition Awards - May 22, 2007 Council Meeting Mleziva spoke with each individual receiving the awards and they all responded that they could make the meeting. Mleziva brought up a concern about the verbiage on the Certificates of Achievement. It was decided to include the verbiage, "creation and historic enhancement of the Riverwalk". Also, there was discussion regarding presenting the award to the person who put the money toward the enhancement and improvements on Riverwalk. This would not include Joe Boles since he has already received an award but it may include others after Mleziva does some research.
Other Business - None
Adjournment Meeting adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Molly McLagan, Recording Secretary
