Mission Statement
The mission of the City of River Falls Historic Preservation Commission is to promote and protect the historic resources within the City of River Falls and to educate the community about its cultural heritage.
Purpose and Intent
In order to promote the economic, cultural, and general welfare of the people of the City and to ensure the harmonious, orderly and efficient growth and development of the City, it is deemed essential by the governing body that the qualities relating to the residential history of River Falls, and a harmonious outward appearance, that preserve property values and attracts tourists and residents alike, be preserved, some of the qualities being:
- The continued existence and preservation of historical areas and buildings; and
- The continued construction of buildings in historic styles; and
- A general harmony as to style, form, height, proportion, texture, and material between buildings of historic design and those of modern design.

LEGAL BASIS: 1993 Wisconsin Act 471 Municipal Code - Section 21.31
DUTIES: Select geographically-defined areas within the City to be designated as historic districts and prepare a historic Preservation plan for each area.
LENGTH OF TERM: 3 years
COMPENSATION: Per Resolution #3041 dated 7-22-97
APPOINTING AUTHORITY: Mayor, subject to confirmation by Council
