Engineering
The City of River Falls Engineering Department provides Civil Engineering guidance to the Mayor, other City departments, boards and commissions, and the general public concerning the planning, design, and construction of private and public works projects involving buildings, roads and storm drainage, to insure adherence with the appropriate standards and guidelines
Responsibilities include direction of activities of all public and private construction in the City corporate limits. To provide engineering analysis, surveying, design, preparation and review of plans, specifications and cost estimates, construction and site inspection, administration for permit processing, right-of-way acquisition/relocation
The Engineering Department is primarily responsible for the design and management of city funded capital improvement projects for the City's transportation and storm water management. It is also responsible for the review of private development plans to ensure they meet the City's engineering standards.
The Engineering Department is responsible for engineering issues related to roadways, storm water, grading, erosion control, and general land development. Specifically this includes:
- Involvement in the planning and design process for new developments
- Traffic and parking issues
- Bridge and roadway improvements
- Storm sewer improvements
- Managing the storm water utility
- Address assignments
- Overseeing storm water management
- City mapping
- Property information and records
