Spring & Fall Cleanup
Spring and Fall Cleanup Schedule

Each May and October, a cleanup is conducted at the City Public Works Garage (950 Benson Street). Spring cleanup begins the second Monday in May and runs for one week. Fall clean-up begins the third Monday in October and runs one week. The hours utilized for both cleanup operations are Monday through Friday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.   

2017 Spring Cleanup Dates

  • Monday through Friday, May 8th - 12th
    • 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m
  • Saturday, May 13th
    • 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

2017 Fall Cleanup Dates
  • Monday through Friday, October 16th - 20th
    • 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m
  • Saturday, October 21st    
    • 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Acceptable Items

  • Carpets and Carpet Pads
  • Furniture
  • Large or Bulky Items
  • Mattress or Box Springs
  • Minor Household Construction Debris (Less Than 1 Cubic Yard)
  • Miscellaneous Garbage (More Than 1 Cubic Yard)

Acceptable Items With an Additional Fee

  • Air Conditioners
  • Appliances
  • Car Tires
  • Computers or Printers
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Large Quantities of Construction Debris
  • Microwaves
  • Truck Tires
  • TVs or Monitors (Less Than 20 Inches)
  • TVs or Monitors (More Than 20 Inches)

Unacceptable Items

  • Car Batteries
  • Chemicals or Waste
    (Generated by a Contractor)
  • Empty propane tanks
  • Oil
  • Paint
  • Special or hazardous waste


Spring and Fall cleanup is provided only for residents in the City of River Falls who are currently billed for city garbage service (Advanced Disposal) on their utility bill. Residents bringing items for disposal will be asked to present a form of identification and a copy of a recent RFMU bill showing their billed garbage service. People who do not qualify will not be allowed to dispose of their goods.
