Catch the Reading Bug
Summer Library Program 2008
The Summer Library Program, will consist of two parts, the
Independent Reading Program and the Activity Sessions.
Sign-up begins on May 27.
Independent Reading Program
- Begins the week of June 9 and is individualized and continuous and is
for all children ages 2 and up.
- On June 9, children can pick up their reading folder, put their
traveling shape on the bulletin board, and begin to keep track of the
time they spend reading or being read to.
- When the child returns to the library with their reading folder, the
traveling shape on the bulletin board can be moved, and incentives will
be earned.
- Super readers (those who complete more that 2 times around the
bulletin board) will have the opportunity to earn more incentives.
- There will be a special reading folder aimed at kids who have
completed 4th grade and above
- Every week there will be handouts, and a weekly guessing contest.
- The Independent Reading Program runs until August 29

Pre-registration begins on Tuesday, May
27.
Activity Session Programs are for kids who
have completed Grades K-5.

Featuring organic hip-hop and world
beats for the whole family .
Another event to watch for is the Kiddie Parade, which takes place
during River Falls Days at the library on Saturday morning of July 12. Kids can
enter in many categories, and prizes will be awarded. Watch for details of
this event.
