All videocassettes from the River Falls Public Library shall be for the personal viewing of the borrower, and may not be loaned out to anyone else for any reason.

All videos may be checked out for one week. Late fines will be charged at the rate of $1.00 per day. The maximum fine for videos is $5.00 per video.

The borrower acknowledges that all videocassettes will be in good working order and condition at the time they are borrowed, and the borrower agrees to pay an amount equal to either the full cash value, reasonable cost of repair, or daily rate (see above) in the event of any items that are not returned, are damaged, or are returned late.

The borrower hereby holds the River Falls Public Library harmless for any damage or loss of property, of whatever kind or nature, arising out of the use of the borrowed videocassettes.

Videotaped materials are protected by Copyright 17 U.S.C. Sec.101 . Unauthorized copying may be prohibited by law.

Public performances of a videotape in a public room require a performance license from the copyright owner. The only exception would be educational programs meeting these seven requirements for classroom use:

  • The performance must be by instructors or by pupils.
  • The performance is in connection with face-to-face teaching activities.
  • The entire audience is involved in the teaching activity.
  • The entire audience is in the same room or same general area.
  • The teaching activities are conducted by a non-profit education institution.
  • The performance takes place in a classroom or similar place devoted to instruction.
  • The person responsible for the performance has no reason to believe that the videotape was unlawfully made.
