How Bicycles Work

Ken Kifer's Bike Pages
"The purpose of Ken Kifer's Bike Pages is to share what I know about cycling and to encourage others to bicycle as well. All articles are written by me and reflect my knowledge and personal experience, not something someone else said. Although having a strong philosophical streak, these bike pages include practical cycling information, statistical analysis, personal accounts of long trips and local experiences, photos, and humor. I don't deny having a bias: I think that we should all waste less and consume less, learn to appreciate Nature more, take better care of our bodies, and adopt a less-stressful pace of life. I promote using a bicycle instead of a motor vehicle because doing so is kind to the environment, good for the body, and good for the psyche."

USA Cycling
"USA Cycling is a family of organizations that promote and govern different disciplines of the sport, and that work as one to build the sport of bicycle racing, assist with athlete development and sustain international competitive excellence."

BikesRNotToys

Bike Reviews
Offers bike reviews, classified ads, news, links to bike manufacturers, and a bike rant forum.

Recumbent Cyclist News
Lots of news and information for recumbent riders. "Recumbent bicycles came about when people started looking for options to the traditional diamond frame bicycle. Comfort was the main goal and bicycle industry designers tried to reinvent the upright bicycle - with limited success. Recumbent designers may have different ideas on geometry, style, look and performance - but most know the bottom-line is comfort!"

Wisconsin Mountain Biking Maps & Trails

Biking in Wisconsin
"This is the biking section-- less the photographs-- of a much larger document from the state of Wisconsin called the 1994 Recreation Guide, which you could get for yourself by calling 800-432-TRIP-- these days, they have slightly different publications with similar names. Writing in June, 1998-- some of this information may be stale, since it's four years old. Updates, additions, comments, and flames are solicited; sections that have been updated are marked as such."

Biking
From Cooler by the Lake, collaborative effort of Northeast Wisconsin librarians to make good information resources available to everyone.  An excellent source of biking information.

Mountain Bike Trails in Wisconsin State Parks and Forests

River Falls Police Department Bike Patrol
"The Bicycle Patrol was initiated in 1995 and at this time includes three bicycles and eight trained bicycle patrol officers. The advantages to a bicycle patrol program include closer community contact, increased visibility, a quiet approach, low cost and the amount and diversity of the territory bicycles can cover. The bicycle patrol provides patrol in the areas of the city that are not easily accessible by the patrol car."
