Find the
Light Online Support Group
"Welcome to the Find the Light Online Support
Group for Mood Disorders, Anxiety, and Substance Abuse! The main
objective of this site is to provide private online peer support to
adults that are suffering from mental illness, in addition to
information relating to various mental health issues. Online support
can be very therapeutic for those that don't want to go out, are
afraid to go out, or don't have access to support groups in their
community. It is also valuable as a supplement for therapy. It is not
meant to be a substitute for therapy. The consensus statement unveiled
by SAMHSA has revealed that peer support is essential to recovery of
mental illness."

Illness
"NAMI (the National Alliance on Mental Illness) is
the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated
to improving the lives of persons living with serious mental illness
and their families. Founded in 1979, NAMI has become the nation’s
voice on mental illness, a national organization including NAMI
organizations in every state and in over 1100 local communities across
the country who join together to meet the NAMI mission through
advocacy, research, support, and education. NAMI is dedicated to
the eradication of mental illnesses and to the improvement of the
quality of life of all whose lives are affected by these
diseases."
The
National Alliance on Mental Illness - Wisconsin
"The National Alliance on Mental Illness was
founded in Madison, Wisconsin, in 1980. NAMI Wisconsin has 34
affiliates serving 40 counties throughout the state, with a membership
of nearly 5,000 people. Mental illness knows no gender, racial,
ethnic, age, or economic boundaries, affecting one out of every five
Wisconsin families. NAMI provides crucial information to persons
affected by mental illness and their families and serves as their
advocate on a state and national level."
Mental
Health America
Mental Health America (formerly known as the National
Mental Health Association) is the country’s leading nonprofit
dedicated to helping ALL people live mentally healthier lives. With
our more than 320 affiliates nationwide, we represent a growing
movement of Americans who promote mental wellness for the health and
well-being of the nation – everyday and in times of crisis.
The National
Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
"The NIMH mission is to reduce the burden of
mental illness and behavioral disorders through research on mind,
brain, and behavior. This public health mandate demands that we
harness powerful scientific tools to achieve better understanding,
treatment, and eventually, prevention of these disabling conditions
that affect millions of Americans."
National
Mental Health Awareness Campaign
"Our organization is a nationwide nonpartisan
public education campaign that was launched as part of the 1999 White
House Conference on Mental Health. We are dedicated to battling the
stigma, shame, and myths surrounding mental disorders that prevent so
many people from getting the help they need."
Substance Abuse
and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
"The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration (SAMHSA) has established a clear vision for its work --
a life in the community for everyone. To realize this vision, the
Agency has sharply focused its mission on building resilience and
facilitating recovery for people with or at risk for mental or
substance use disorders. SAMHSA is gearing all of its resources --
programs, policies and grants -- toward that outcome.
Wisconsin
United for Mental Health
"A partnership of public and private organizations
created to help educate Wisconsinites about mental illness and to
serve as a resource for people around the state. Research shows that
one in five Wisconsinites will be affected by mental illness this
year, and nearly two-thirds of those with a diagnosable mental
disorder do not get the treatment and support that would help them
recover. Wisconsin United for Mental Health is dedicated to reducing
the stigma associated with having a mental illness and encouraging
people to seek the necessary treatment."
