Accident Statistics

The River Falls Police Department responds to and investigates many traffic accidents in the City each year.  These accidents are categorized as either reportable or non-reportable accidents.

Reportable Accident:  a reportable accident requires a police report be submitted to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and is defined as;  Any motor vehicle accident resulting in any of the following:

bulletInjury or fatality of a person
bulletTotal damage to one person's property of $ 1000 or more
bulletDamage to government owned property of $ 200 or more, except 
government owned vehicles which is $ 1000

Non-Reportable Accident:  Any motor vehicle accident which does not meet the definition of a reportable accident.  Most of these accidents involve minor damage caused by slow speed impact.  The River Falls Police Department does fill out a non-reportable accident form for these collisions.
