In an effort to enhance the partnership with
the River Falls community through citizen participation, the River Falls
Police Department will offer a seven (7) week police / citizen training
program. The program is similar to those used by other departments
across the nation and are commonly referred to as Citizen
Academies.

Goals of the River Falls Police
Department Citizen Academy
 | To provide citizens with a general knowledge of law enforcement; |
| To strengthen support for the police department by developing and
enhancing citizen / police partnerships; |
| To obtain valued feedback from the community through citizen
participation; |
| To increase citizen understanding of how the police department
conducts business in our community. |

The course is designed to give the student a
realistic experience through exposure to various tasks performed by
members of the River Falls Police Department, in the delivery of service
to the River Falls Community. The program will include presentations
by members of the River Falls Police Department supported by visual aids
and hands on demonstrations.

|
| The classes are free and are held on Tuesday
evenings from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the River
Falls Public Library. Tentative dates for the 2009 Citizen
Police Academy are September 22 thru November 3, 2009.
