Engineering
The City of River Falls Engineering Department provides civil engineering guidance to the Mayor, other city departments, boards and commissions, and the general public, concerning the planning, design, and construction of private and public works projects. This includes ensuring adherence with the appropriate standards and guidelines for buildings, roads, and storm drainage.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:
- Providing direction for activities of all public and private construction in the city corporate limits including review of development plans to ensure they meet the city's engineering standards
- Providing engineering analysis, surveying, design, preparation, and review of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for city funded Capital Improvement projects
- Performing construction and site inspections
- Organizing administration for permit processing; right-of-way acquisitions, and/or relocation
- Resolving traffic and parking issues
- Improving bridges and roadways
- Improving storm sewers
- Managing the storm water utility
- Managing address assignments
- Overseeing storm water management
- Mapping the city
- Managing property information and related records

Outside of City business hours, please contact the Fire Department at 715-426-3534 or the DNR Spill Prevention Hotline at 1-800-943-0003.
