Spring & Fall Cleanup Schedule

Each May and October, a cleanup is conducted at the City Public Works Garage (950 Benson Street). Spring cleanup begins the second Monday in May and runs for one week. Fall cleanup begins the first Monday in October and runs one week. The hours utilized for both cleanup operations are Monday through Friday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

  • Oct. 2 - 6 
    • Monday through Friday, 4 to 8 p.m.

    • Saturday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Acceptable Items for No Fee

  • Cable satellite dishes under 4 feet in diameter  
  • Car Seats
  • Carpets and Carpet Pads
  • Furniture
  • Large or Bulky Items
  • Mattresses or Box Springs
  • Minor Household Construction Debris (up to one pick-up truck bed full)
  • Miscellaneous Garbage (up to one pick-up truck bed full)

Acceptable Items With an Additional Fee*:
*Payments can be made in the form of cash or check to Waste Management at the event.

  • Appliances 
  • Car Tires 
  • Computers or Printers 
  • Dehumidifiers
  • Large Quantities of Construction Debris 
  • Microwaves 
  • Truck Tires 
  • TVs or Monitors (Less Than 20 Inches)

  • Propane tanks
  • Tires: bobcat, semi-truck, tractor, etc.

There are alternative options to dispose of these items:

  • City of River Falls Municipal Utilities Electronic Recycling

Eligibility

Spring and Fall Cleanup is provided for residents in the City of River Falls and non-resident customers who elect to enroll in the CORE fee and have a utility bill through River Falls Municipal Utilities. This eligibility is a part of the CORE (COmpost and REcycling) fee, which includes the Spring and Fall Cleanups, Compost Site, and Electronic Recycling Event. Customers bringing items for disposal will be asked to present a form of identification and a copy of a recent RFMU bill. People who do not qualify will not be able to participate.

At the event, residents do not need to get out of their vehicles, as staff will transport the items from your vehicle to the dumpsters.
