Installation of Meter

At its January 8, 2019, meeting, the River Falls City Council adopted a resolution to proceed with the Advance Metering Infrastructure Project (AMI) as budgeted in the Capital Improvement Plan. This is a multi-year project to replace and upgrade all electric and water meters to new technology, with funding from the electric, water and wastewater funds.

River Falls Municipal Utilities standard meter for both electric and water include AMI metering technology. We do offer a Public Service Commission (PSC) approved opt-out program for customers who wish to remain on the older non-standard AMR metering system. If you wish to continue using your non-standard AMR meter(s), a meter reading fee of $22.31 is charged each month to cover the additional expense and labor required to maintain and read non-standard meters.
